Australian David Johnson is due to undergo surgery on a broken knee sustained in a crash at the Ulster Grand Prix yesterday.

The Wilson Craig Honda rider slipped off at Quarterlands in the Superstock qualifying session and although he initially saved a front-end slide, Johnson ran out of road and ended up in the barriers.

Johnson sustained the broken knee, broken left shoulder, punctured lung, broken ribs and a fractured vertebrae but with no nerve damage. He expects to make a full and fast recovery.
